Cubbie Fink (born Jacob Fink on October 4, 1983) was a member of the indie pop band Foster the People. Fink played bass and provided back-up vocals. The lead singer, Mark Foster, formally founded the band in 2009, along with drummer Mark Pontius, a film school student who left his group Malbec to join Foster.[1] They added Foster's long-time friend Fink as bassist after he lost his job at a television production company during the recession.[2][3]
A Denver native, Fink and his family moved to San Diego when he was 9.[4] His father was a drummer in local bands, including the surf-rock group The Hurricanes. Fink began playing guitar when he was 11.
After graduating from La Costa Canyon High School in San Diego, Fink spent two years doing missionary work in South Africa, where was involved with sports programs, teaching life skills and AIDS awareness.[5] He later graduated in 2007 from Vanguard University with a degree in communications.
Fink married Christian music artist Rebecca St. James on April 23, 2011. Their daughter Gemma Elena Fink was born on February 18, 2014.[6]
On September 24, 2015, Fink announced via Facebook that he was parting ways with Foster the People to "pursue other opportunities."[7]
